Important Update: Goldfields DAMA

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has announced an update to Goldfields DAMA endorsement applications. The City will continue to accept new endorsement applications up to and including 13 November 2026.

This deadline has been put in place as the Goldfields DAMA prepares to transition to the Western Australia (WA) DAMA. While new endorsement applications will only be accepted until 13 November, the Goldfields DAMA will remain operational until 31 December 2026. The 13 November deadline will ensure that applications can be assessed and processed within the operational period of the Goldfields DAMA.

The Goldfields DAMA will transition to the Western Australia DAMA as of 1 January 2027. The WA DAMA will become the primary framework for the Goldfields region.

Employees currently employed under the Goldfields DAMA will continue to be employed under the Goldfields framework for the validity of their visa.

The Goldfields DAMA has been an integral part of the Goldfields region migration landscape.

‘The Goldfields DAMA has been an important program for our region, helping local businesses fill critical skill gaps and welcoming skilled workers who have become a valued part of our community.’

Designated Area Migration Agreements in Western Australia

Western Australia currently has five DAMAs in place: Western Australia, Goldfields, East Kimberley, Pilbara and South West.

Along with the Goldfields DAMA, the South West DAMA will close to new applications and variation requests for existing Labour Agreement holders on Friday, 30 October 2026, and will also transition to the WA DAMA from December 2026.

DAMA programs in WA help Western Australian businesses employ skilled migrants when attempts to employ local Australian workers have not been successful. Through DAMA programs, eligible businesses can access additional occupations, a range of concessions in the requirements for age, work experience and English language and employer-sponsored visa pathways (Subclass 482 visa, Subclass 494 visa and Subclass 186 visa).

Visa Solutions Australia will provide updates on any further announcements in relation to the Goldfields DAMA transition.
