The Parent Visa

The parent visa category aims to reconnect people with their children who currently live in Australia.

Families can be separated from each other due to a number of circumstances. As family people, the team at Visa Solutions Australia understands how hard it is to be separated from your loved ones and we will do our best to ensure your family can be re-united.

Working with you, we will make sure your application has all the supporting documentation required to lodge a complete and thorough visa application.

Who can apply for an Australian parent visa?

To be eligible for an Australian parent visa, you must have a child who is an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand resident. You must also be able to demonstrate that at least half of your children are permanent residents of Australia or that a majority of your children permanently reside in Australia compared to any other single country.

Can I bring my family?

You can include your partner and any dependent children on your application.

Do I need to be in Australia?

You can apply for this visa onshore or offshore, but you can’t be in immigration clearance when you apply.

If you apply from within Australia, any family members that apply with you must also be in Australia, likewise, if applying from outside Australia, family members applying with you must also be outside of Australia.

If you are applying as a retiree, you must be in Australia but not in immigration clearance when you apply.

You can be onshore or offshore when the decision is made on your application.
